ESI Editorial Review
The ESI Cable Integrated USB MIDI Interface MIDIMATE eX has garnered positive feedback from users who have successfully employed it to connect legacy MIDI devices with modern computer systems, particularly under Windows 11. Users have expressed satisfaction in its ability to seamlessly operate classic MIDI instruments like the SC-88Pro and SC-D70. The product's plug-and-play functionality stands out, as the drivers often install automatically, which minimizes setup complexity. However, for enhanced performance, especially in multi-application environments, users are advised to download and install the proprietary drivers from the manufacturer's website. While the interface performs well in recognizing output ports automatically, some users have suggested improvements in the design of the MIDI connectors to aid in distinguishing between MIDI out channels, as the current setup lacks clear differentiation. Despite this minor drawback, the overall reception of the MIDIMATE eX reflects a reliable and effective solution for those looking to bridge older MIDI technology with modern computing environments, allowing for a nostalgic yet functional music creation experience. **
