Un encargo histórico: el rey Eduardo VII ―hijo de la reina Victoria― le encargó 27 tiaras para su coronación en la abadía de Westminster. Su primera gran revolución fueron los relojes de pulsera femeninos, una auténtica innovación en una época en la que los hombres usaban los relojes de bolsillo.Otra revolución de Cartier fue la introducción del platino en sus diseños. Este metal, permitió crear piezas más sutiles y elegantes, con una de sus una de sus técnicas más exitosas: la de la filigrana.No fue hasta 1904 que se creó el primero reloj para hombres: el icónico modelo Santos en platino diseñado para su amigo y pionero de la aviación Alberto Santos-Dumont. El primer gran clásico de la marca, versionado hasta nuestros días. Le siguieron el modelo Tank (inspirado en los tanques) con su caja totalmente rectangular que se convirtió de inmediato en un signo de elegancia.Quizá el ejemplo más destacado de esta fusión entre tradición y modernidad sea la creación de la pantera, un motivo que se convertiría en el emblema indiscutible de la marca. Esta gran marca que pasó de generación en generación superó guerras, la mecanización de la joyería, la aparición de los relojes de cuarzo y la muerte del último miembro de la familia Cartier. La crisis empujó la venta de la empresa, pero supo reinventarse: llegaron los Les Must de Cartier, para el público joven y los nuevos productos de piel, perfumes… También lazó lanzó Panthère, la reinterpretación de su mayor emblema que se ha convertido en una leyenda de la moda femenina.
