Yeni düzen karşısında kararlı davranıp mülklerini ellerinde tutmaktan acizdirler. Vişne Bahçesi, 1904 yılında Moskova Sanat Tiyatrosu'nda Stanislavski tarafından sahneye kondu. Çehov yapıtının komedi, hatta yer yer fars olduğunu vurgulasa da, Stanislavski oyunu trajedi olarak ele almakta ısrar etmişti.
