Charts & Posters Editorial Review
This book, "A First Course in Partial Differential Equations: with Complex Variables and Transform Methods," seems to be a reliable and useful resource for those looking to delve into or strengthen their understanding of partial differential equations (PDEs). It is mathematically rigorous and contains a mixture of abstract concepts and practical applications. The book seems to be most helpful for those with a background in calculus and ordinary differential equations, and as long as one is patient and persistent, the book's many problems and solutions can be a great tool for self-instruction. The use of numbers complex numbers is also a noted positive, allowing for better understanding of electromagnetic properties. However, there seems to be a mixed reception to the book's motivation of its subject, with one reviewer feeling it falls short. Overall though, the book seems to be positively received and a good value for its price range.
